Keep Your Area Rug Looking Like New

PRACTICE PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

Even if you don’t have a lot of spare time to devote to area rug cleaning and care, there are some quick and easy tasks that will do wonders to protect the look and longevity of your area rug.

Preventative maintenance will go a long way to keep your rug looking as good as new for years to come. Ask family members and guests to remove their shoes before walking across your area rug. Also invest in some doormats to trap dirt and particles instead of tracking them throughout your home.

AREA RUG CARE TIPS

Regular Cleaning

You should regularly vacuum your area rug to remove all of the dirt, dust, and allergens from its fibers. We also recommend the occasional professional cleaning or shampooing your rug.

Some rugs have stain resistant treatments that improve your ability to clean stains, but not prevent them. Similarly, rugs with soil resistant treatments reduce the rate of soiling, but all rugs require regular care and maintenance. Resist carpet soil and stains with R2X, Shaw's own breakthrough technology.

Never dry clean area rugs or use bleach on them!

AREA RUG CARE TIPS

Dealing with Spills & Stains

No matter how careful you are or how much you stick to your care and maintenance routine, your area rug will still likely experience the occasional spill or mess, especially if you have kids or pets. Fortunately, many of our rugs feature stain-resistant fibers, making cleaning common household stains a breeze!

Some water-based stains can be rinsed and wiped away, but oil-based stains might need a more comprehensive stain removal plan. It’s always best to consult your rug's manufacturer's stain removal guide to see how best to tackle each particular mess.
